PORCA Executive Director
The Pemberton Off-Road Cycling Association (PORCA) is seeking a self-motivated and community minded individual who is passionate about mountain biking to fill the position of Executive Director.
About PORCA
The purpose of the Pemberton Off Road Cycling Association is to support and enhance mountain biking in the Pemberton area. Through community involvement and trails stewardship, PORCA strives to maintain and enhance Pemberton's world class riding experience for residents and visitors. Key goals include:
Promote responsible trail use and environmental stewardship.
Work towards diversification of the local trail network.
Continue to offer low barrier events and programs focused on providing mountain bike
opportunities for all levels of the riding community.
Seek interpretive trail opportunities and partnerships with the local First Nations community.
PORCA is governed by a volunteer board comprising nine directors. Each director has an equal vote in board decisions. A variety of sub-committees exist to address the diversity of initiatives undertaken by PORCA. The Executive Director will report to and be managed by the Human Resources and Governance Committee and will be expected to attend monthly Board meetings and represent PORCA at club events.
The Position
The Executive Director will be responsible for day-to-day business operations, with a primary focus on fundraising, event planning, and communications. The Executive Director will grow annual revenue through the development of grant proposals, donations, and identifying new opportunities within the community.
Responsibilities Include:
In conjunction with Director of Fundraising, source, draft, and submit grant applications on behalf of PORCA.
Provide oversight of youth programs and manage the Head Coach.
Develop a Board policy manual in collaboration with the PORCA Board.
Manage PORCA’s annual membership, program and event registration and reports.
Communicate with community user groups, stakeholders, and local government to advocate for trail stewardship in Pemberton.
Manage PORCA’s social media and communication channels (website, social media, newsletter).
Manage the planning and development of the Pemberton Skills Park.
Work with volunteers to support event planning as necessary.
Source annual insurance coverage to meet the needs of planned operations; record and report incidents as they occur.
Manage merchandise sales.
Monthly Board meeting preparation and attendance.
Work with Treasurer and Secretary to ensure PORCA meets its fiscal and non-profit reporting responsibilities
Position Requirements
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who has/is:
Program or project management experience
Experience fundraising (for a non-profit) and writing grant proposals and reports
Excellent organization and oral and written communication skills
Computer literate and familiar with email software and Microsoft office products
Other skills and experience that would be an asset:
Board governance training
Event planning and management experience
Understanding of the mountain bike industry/culture
Social media marketing experience
Experience using Survey Monkey, Drop Box, Mail Chimp, CCN, SquareSpace
First aid certification
Remuneration
The annual Executive Director position is a 9 month fixed contract from February through October.* Position will be paid $25/hour for 23 hours/week depending on experience, with the possibility of renewal annually. Averaging agreement to balance hours in early/late season.
The Executive Director will be expected to work from home using their own laptop, cell phone, car.
*The 2019 contract is June -October.
